Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Joe Monfreda is the husband (of 29 years) to Liz Monfreda and father of three grown children Megan, Jonathan and Nicholas and presently resides in the city of Upland, CA.
“In 1982 I was rescued by My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as I accepted His free gift of salvation and exchanged my sins for His righteousness at a home bible study in Chino Hills, CA.
As a Christian; for just a year and a half, the Lord used me (as one of three brothers in the Lord) to plant/start Calvary Chapel of Rancho Cucamonga in 1984. I served in Calvary Chapel of Rancho Cucamonga for 14+ years as an elder and expository bible teacher; while eventually attending Simon Greenleaf University in Anaheim, CA (Apologetic’s major).
I then moved as the Lord opened the doors for me to teach Apologetics & World Views at the Calvary Chapel Bible College from 1995-1997 at Twin Peaks campus, and then at the main campus in Murrieta.
At that time my family and I lived in North San Bernardino and attended Calvary Chapel of San Bernardino. I began serving as an apologetic and expository bible study teacher and we attended CCSB for 6 years. Upon moving to the city of Upland, CA (in June 1999 with our three small children at the time); my family and I attended the LBF Church.
From 2000 till December 2011 we attended and served at the fellowship called Life Bible Fellowship in Upland, I served there as an expository bible study teacher, apologetic teacher in the Critical Issues Class and eventually an Elder Board member. From 2008 till 2011 the Lord made me a Pastor/Elder of this congregation (of about 900 members) and then called me to be the Chairman of the Elder Board.
As Chairman in good standing, I fulfilled my position term and felt the Lord lead my family and I out to seek God’s direction for part or full-time ministry.
This decision came after six months of prayer by myself then with my wife and finally with two local pastors; (one was a pastor of a Calvary Chapel and the other an independent local church pastor friend). My family and I then started attending Calvary Chapel Chino Hills and remained there for 2 years.
Upon meeting a Pastor friend with a current church plant called Calvary Chapel New Beginnings in La Puente CA; my family and I began to serve and help in this new work (for a committed year) where we were used to help further the progress of a young church plant.
Simultaneously, the Lord helped me maintained my Calvary Chapel Bible College teaching position where I am currently an expository bible/apologetic teacher on the Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa CA Campus.
Finally, through over two years of continued prayer and seeking for Gods direction for ministry; I answered His very real call in my life to plant a Church in the City of San Dimas, CA.
We began as a home bible study in my Upland home and eventually moved to San Dimas Canyon Park, showing up with just our Bibles, Lawn chairs and water bottles. Through many prayers and door-to-door evangelism/outreach in this city we remained faithful to Jesus’ great commission to preach and teach and make disciples.
Our Bible Study was offered a house to meet in and eventually grew as a group in love and size. After leaving the house we occupied a “club house” at the San Dimas Village Apartments; and the need to find a building and open a church was obvious to all.
We started our first Sunday Service on November 2, 2014 and also have a midweek service. God continues to bless and guide this church that He started and will maintain. Our evangelism team is committed to continue spreading the gospel in San Dimas.
As the Pastor, I am committed to preaching, teaching and equipping through the whole counsel of God’s Holy Word until Jesus raptures us out of here! We are a New Testament Style, Bible Believing, Bible Teaching, Equipping and Sending Church – all in obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Calvary Church of San Dimas has adopted Matthew 11:28-30 as our ministry outreach cry to a world in desperate need of hope, rest and the free gift of salvation in Jesus:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
